Reservoir Dogs

So heres an attempt at getting back into doing some acting animations. I've been doing frigging talking loops and run cycles for so long now, I'm just stoked I remember how to set these types of keyframes. Enjoy!

Animations!

Below you will find a handful of animations that I've worked for Cory In the House DS. Soon, a new demo reel will be here to keep these guys company, but until then I'll be posting some private stuff I'm working on so keep coming back.

I soon as we had the design meeting about this guy, I took dibs on the animating. I had a lot of fun with this guy. He is the final boss in Cory In the House DS. I was told to go a little wild with him, really Warner Brothers him up. Enjoy
Ahh, the Sneak Animations. These were one of my favorite sets of animations to do for Newt. I don't know why it was, but walking around the studio, trying to get the timing and then getting a bunch of other people to walk around me so I could see it was a hoot!
Heres one of Newt's Idles and what it looks like as he gets hurt.
Heres an animation of Newt running . It shows the three stages of injured he can go through as a playable character in Cory In the House DS
Here is one of several animations that i worked on for the Nintendo DS title, Cory In the House. This is Newt, one of the playable characters. He's sort of the Shaggy of the show. Surfer kid, plays the guitar, a little dim witted and easily my favorite character on the show.

Long Time No See

Theres a certain amount of comfort in not having cable TV or the "Intra-Web" at home. You get things done, you get to play more and you can hone your supernatural abilities like flight or being able to "Freeze Frame" in mid air. Ok, those last two are bullshit, but you get the idea. Anyhow, heres a few things that have shown up around my apartment:

These are a couple of oil paintings that I've recently used to cover up perfectly nice white canvases. The nude w/skull was pretty fun cause I really didn't know what it was going to be when pigment first met the cotten. My goal was simply to paint a decent nude (not sure if I hit that bench mark, but thats hardly the point). Was she was introduced to the world, I knew it needed something more. Why a skull? Cause woman will fuckin kill you... nah! its nothing as deep as that. I just saw what looked to be an eye socket and then went from there.

The lower guy was fun cause I painted all but the final highlights with the image upside-down. I knew I could trick the paint to run if I promised them ultimate nirvana at the end of their journey. Fortunately, oil paint is more gullible than those who give their live savings to televangelist. It turned out pretty fun though.

So the top one is an illustration my Lead Illustrator, Russel did in pencil and I painted in Photoshop. Chucky there was drawn in pencil by my 3D Modeler Josh and again, I painted in Photoshop.

So here's where the bulk of my drawing has taken place in these last few months; the sides of my notebook. Everybody in Handheld uses these old school quad grid composition notebooks. I thought some of you might get a kick outta seeing how my brain can sometimes wander. Most of the stick figures are thumbnails for animations I'm workin on. I'll usually slap down a few quick thumbs of keys that I want to hit and then stand at my desk and act em out. You shouldda seen it when my director and I were working out timing for dance steps. We've got some bomb ass moves. Enjoy...

Beautiful weekend up here in Seattle and nothin better to do on a sunny day than go down to the Sculpture Park and look at funny people. This particular guy caught my attention. Huge Moto-X helmet, super tight black jean shorts, beat to shit Converse All-Stars and weighed in at a whopping 90 lbs tops. This is the time of year that even those that shouldn't, come out to see the sun.

Good lord I haven't touched this friggin site in a long time. My bad. I got a real job! Its the whole Mon through Fri type a gig. Its a studio called Handheld Games. We make those Plug n' Play things, but what I'm mostly workin on is Nintendo DS titles. It pretty sweet. All I do, all day long is animate actual in game animations. I mean, what I did before was in game animation, but now there will be a NPC (non playable character) that looks at his shoe to see what he might have stepped in because of me! I'm also doing a lot of main character animation. I've been working on a whole bunch of dance steps for the last month and half. I didn't realize, till I wrote that sentence, that its been a over a month since I started this gig. Huh... Anyways, here's a quick sketch to clear out those old Pendleton pics. Coming soon will be the painting that I posted previous sketches of. I can't wait to get this friggin canvas outta my house. Note to self: Don't post after midnight. You ramble like an moron. Enjoy...

This is the Double Rock Ranch in Pendleton Oregon. About a year or so ago, my friends Kim and Brandon Benson, moved down here. Its a pheasant ranch with a few heads of cattle, a goat, a green house, two dogs, a newborn angel named May Belle and 300+ acres of beautiful. It was truly an amazing way to come off of two months of 50+ hour weeks on Nancy Drew.I shot this from a cliff that overlooks the ranch. Enjoy...

So I've been working kinda crazy hours now that we're in the latter part of the latest Nancy Drew production, which means that all of my big projects are placed on hold. Fortunatly, what I'm working on now requires me to test render 15 frame animations...a lot of them. That then means that I have 2-3 minutes to draw every 15-20 minutes or so. This is an example of what happens.

My Tombo pen spit this out the other day. Fun lines and perspective play. I have a canvas that already has this weird wood texture on it and I think this'll look pretty good on. Enjoy...

12 BARS OF CHRISTMAS

Sorry theres no new image, but, on the off chance that somebody reads this blog, the 12 Bars of Christmas is tomorrow December 16. We start at The 4 B's @ 6:30 (4300 Leary Way NW Seattle, WA 98107). I just got my T-shirt today and their friggin killer! Hope to see you there. Enjoy...

So I moved recently and in doing so I found this little 8” x 8” canvas that I had painted over and over. It was thick with acrylic paint, but it had that nice smooth feel that layers and layers of acrylic will do. That’s, by far, my sharpies favorite surface and this is what it drew. I must say that I really had very little to do with this drawing, my sharpie just kept moving while I watched the Seahawks. Enjoy…GO HAWKS!!

I WON! My submission for the 12 Bars of Christmas won. This is what’s going to be on the back. Notice the nice big and black Thoreen Animation logo that pulls the eye right to it? Yeah, I think it kicks ass too. I guess there’s going to be around 100 or so people doing this masochistic marathon so it'll be pretty sweet to have my image and logo running around the streets of Seattle in a golly drunken mob. Look for us.

I made this in honor of my old neighbor. Well, that and a tombo pen plus a wacom tablet is just good 'ol timey fun. Enjoy...

Tuesday, November 28, 2006

Heres my entry for "The 12 Bars of Christmas" Its an event that my roomates cousin, Fubar, puts on. We start in Ballard/Fremont area and try to make it all the way through to Northgate. The reason the bar names are upside-down is so you can read where we're going next while you're wearing the shirt. If your in the area, look for the merry band of druken idiots (hopefully) sporting these fine shirts.
